Introduction
I have been potting, on and off, since late 1998. I am, alas, a late discoverer of clay and the potters’ wheel.
I am largely self taught, but have benefited from tuition, initially from Martin Dickson at his adult education class in Dorchester. Then, from fellow D.P.G. exhibitors, Fil Cooke and Bill Crumbleholme.

Artist Statement
I love pots ! Certainly not all of them, but a lot of them. Mostly, other potters pots. Now and then, my own. I love the process of making them slightly less. Progress can be painful and sometimes progress-less !
Oddly, I never gave pots / ceramics a second glance until late 1998. Even if I had a more descriptive vocabulary, I don’t think I would be able to describe why I like pots…so I’m not going to struggle with it here.

Influences
Apart from my afore mentioned tutors, I have numerous other sources of inspiration and influence. Many are not well known and whose work I have only seen flat on their web-sites, of which there are thankfully thousands to check out.
Some of the more famous contemporary ones include Phil Pogers, Mike Dodd, Richard Batterham and Tim Hurn- the latter two being Dorset based. I’m not saying you will recognise these potters influence in my work, but I pot in hope !

Ambitions
On the pottery front, I would mainly like the day to become longer and weekends to double in duration!
More realistically, I would like to progress with the technical aspect of my throwing and yet become more ‘free’ in style at the same time.
I would like to learn about kiln building, with a view to constructing several types in the future.
